When it comes to online privacy, the word awareness seems to have become a synonym for fear and paranoia. We’re feeling watched, but at the same time, we are buying refrigerators and door bells with WI-FI. We feel haunted by pictures of the past that will never leave the internet, but still can hardly imagine life without social media. We’re scared by the thought that big media companies collect our data, but not scared enough to read the terms of service. These exact dilemmas and feelings of confusion lead me to start this project: Dear Internet.
